Moving on to the Groomsmen, we will kick off (in alphabetical order) with Nicholas Clark, long-time friend of Jay.
Nick and Jay both grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. They stayed in close contact throughout college as Nick attended University of Michigan and Jay studied at Loyola University of Chicago. They shared friends, including a few from Nick’s fraternity, and have ample supply of “memories” (i.e. embarrassing alcohol related stories) from college.

Nick has an older sister named Ann, who is currently based in Grosse Pointe after spending 5+ years in NYC, and his folks still reside in GP. Nick enlisted in the Marines and completed two tours in Iraq, as well as spending time in American Samoa working for Kiva, a microfinance organization. Jay and I are extremely proud of Nick’s service to his country and we share our pride for America with him. Amerrrrrica!
When Nick returned to the US he was accepted to Columbia Business School in New York and moved out to the Big Apple during the summer of 2008, just before Jay and I were transferred abroad. Nick picked up many skills at business school, including “networking” trips abroad, the subtle differences between vodka brands, and landed himself a great job at Jeffries after graduation. Fast forward two years, and Nick said goodbye to New York and left the motherland for the UK. Nick has now been in Wales for two weeks to work for a conservatively run Michigan-based industrial company, and we wish him well on his endeavors in Europe (aka, we hope that he offers clinics to the British ladies about Freedom Frites and Team America).

I have been lucky enough to spend time with Nick in three cities: New York, Hong Kong, and Grosse Pointe. I first met Nick when he moved to New York to in 2008. He moved into an apartment on Sullivan Street, just a short walk from my apartment building, and we kicked off our friendship with a hyper-competitive game of beer pong. For those of you who do not know what beer pong is, shame on you. I then got to hang with Nick in Hong Kong during what I can only describe as a trip full of culture (too many smirking “Ni hao’s” to count) and fine dining (Jello shots in LKF). And last, but certainly not least, Nick’s parents were gracious to host us when we visited Grosse Pointe for Rob and Lizzy Thiel’s wedding in June 2011. Despite all they knew about Nick and Jay’s extracurriculars’, they still invited us into their home and we are thankful. Nick’s family is lovely and we had a great weekend bonding over lunch and the dance floor.
